What is the "fascia," exactly?

If you've been browsing the Web and reading up on roofing, you've probably seen the term fascia show up in a few places. Those unfamiliar with industry terminology or architecture, however, might not know exactly what this word means or in what context it fits in with roofing. For those people, we have your answer.

The fascia is, essentially, a band that runs horizontally along a roof edge, and is located beneath the edge of the roof that juts out ever-so-slightly. Here's an image, courtesy of Wikipedia.

Here, the fascia is the band with two grooves that runs along the front-facing part of the roof edge. As you can see, there is some overhang from the roof that sits directly above the fascia. Eastern Roofing can help you install or repair this area of your roof, as well as any other issues that need to be addressed.
